Director, Digital Transformation

Digital Transformation is impacting every industry, both in processes used to operate businesses and the products brought to market. Lux serves innovation clients in a variety of industries as they evaluate technologies and use cases to make this transformation a reality. Lux Research is seeking a bold, experienced, and entrepreneurial Research Director to bring thought and team leadership to the research organization. Clients include multi-national energy, electronics, materials, and consumer goods companies in addition to investor, academic, and government groups.   

The ideal candidate will have leadership and innovation experience in one of the following: Industry 4.0, Digital Health, or Consumer Products. The candidate will both develop thought leading content, as well as coach, manage, and edit research reports and analyses that help Lux clients make better decisions about investments, partnerships, and technology strategy. They will advise clients on topics related to their research, present their research at conferences, and speak with startups and established companies that are developing cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a geographically diverse team to develop and test research hypotheses and prepare findings for clients.
  • Directly support and advise innovation clients, leveraging research from across the team, on phone and in person.
  • Manage a team of analysts and research associates, honing research and client interaction skills of the team, and providing mentorship and guidance on career development.
  • With the managing VP of the team, craft coverage priorities and research agenda over the course of the year.
  • Produce and manage written research, including creative visual depictions of data and ideas.
  • Represent Lux Research as a speaker at our events as well as technology conferences around the world.
  • Understand client business needs to develop and deliver high-value research with impact.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years work experience with a background in innovation in Industry 4.0, Digital Health, or Consumer products, including product development, corporate innovation, R&D, new business development, tech scouting, corporate venture capital.
  • Background in science and/or engineering.
  • A strong record of academic achievement. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Deep intellectual curiosity about emerging technologies, and ability to workshop and surface clear ideas with thought partners.
  • Willingness to go the extra mile to meet client needs in a fast-moving, rapidly growing, environment.
  • Entrepreneurial, enthusiastic, collegial, and collaborative approach to work.
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail; ability to juggle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to write and present clearly and incisively about business and technical topics.
  • Superior listening and critical thinking skills, and ability to speak articulately and think on your feet; a good sense of humor is a major plus.
  • Strong analytical skill, both qualitative and quantitative.
