Director, Editorial

Lux Research seeks a highly skilled editor and writer with solid experience managing the editorial workflows and processes from either the B2B research advisory or educational publishing industries.   This role will require an editorial leader who is a collaborative, innovative, and comes equipped with a flawless attention to detail.  The candidate must be passionate about transforming Lux’s editorial and brand integrity across written research, digital tools, and other channels of client service delivery.

This role is an exciting opportunity to build up an editorial function and help shape the future of Lux.   The candidate must have proven experience working on editorial business processes, managing workflows, and ensuring all content developed is high quality, commercially viable, and on time.  The Director of Editorial role is remote, reporting to the Lux VP, Product Operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform content editing and copyediting of highly specialized research on agri-food, energy, materials, and manufacturing physical sciences and digital technologies.  
  • Manage the Lux publishing schedule and “research grid,” ensuring that all content development is on track and on-time across all stages of the Lux research development process.
  • Responsible for keeping Lux research content up to date on the Lux Member Site; manage content audits, keep track of all asset inventory, work with Research Directors to update content or sunset it.
  • Analyze content usage, readership, and customer feedback to understand how the research performs and work with the Research Directors to adjust research agendas based on those insights.
  • Work closely with the research directors to set their agendas, ensure their quotas are being fulfilled and that each team is publishing to a schedule.
  • Work with product management and development to edit the Lux member site and any data or technology products, including surveys, marketing collateral, consulting presentations, web copy, and other client-facing deliverables when needed.
  • Support the creation and delivery of Lux events from building out event presentation storyboards, templates, and guidelines and act as the QA manager for all event content.
  • Participate in analyst peer review of the research deliverables and regular analyst team check-ins.
  • Develop and enforce a Lux editorial style guideline for the analysts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree is required.
  • 10+ years prior editorial experience is required.
  • Demonstrated team contribution and leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills in English.
  • Amazing time, project, and team management skills; ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical thinking skills, dedicated work ethic, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, problem-solve, adapt, and learn are all required.
  • Thrives in a team environment; teamwork is essential.
  • Curiosity is a must!
